South Korean Students Visit EEC
August 2009
The College is proudly hosting 7 Korean Volunteers who are
visiting the College for one month. These volunteers are
assisting the College in the ICT and Tourism fields.
The College joined a group visit to South Korea in May 2009 for a week long study visit. The purpose of the study visit was to interact with the South Korean Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policies, specialised schools, ICT Agencies supporting teaching and learning, institutions of higher learning and other ICT Agencies ensuring the further development of ICT infrastructure in South Korea.
One of the agencies visited was the Korean Agency for Digital Opportunity and Promotion (KADO). The Agency specialises in bridging the digital divided, providing the undeserved population with information accessibility, while offering the general public the IT education programs to leverage the information use.
One of their programmes is the IT Volunteer Corp which organises volunteers with IT knowledge to offer opportunities to receive IT Education at public facilities and institutions.
Using this program they sent out volunteers to public facilities and institutions as well as to rural and underserved areas in the RSA.
The College has already learnt a lot from our Korean friends and we believe that our students and staff can only benefit from this programme.
